Midwives are medical professionals specializing in supporting normal birth… and so much more!

My services include:

Prenatal Care

Whether you’re planning a home birth or one in the hospital, many families choose to have prenatal care with a midwife for a more personalized experience. I offer prenatal visits in my cozy, living-room style office (with a play corner to keep siblings happy), or in the comfort of your own home. We spend between 60-90 minutes together, talking about your pregnancy, any complaints or questions, nutrition, exercise, emotions, labor, postpartum, breastfeeding, and anything else that’s on your mind- and then we do the standard blood pressure, pulse, belly measurement, and assessing baby’s position included in any standard prenatal visit. We can also complete any standard lab work, including non-invasive prenatal screening for genetic anomalies. I typically see families every 4 weeks in the first and second trimester, every 2 weeks in the third trimester, and every week from 36 weeks until birth. I am available for single appointments or the entire pregnancy, depending on what your family needs. Please reach out to schedule a consultation and discuss how I can support you!

Home Birth

After getting to know each other and establishing your wants and needs through your pregnancy, labor will begin and you’ll decide you are ready for me to come support you. Your home is warm and cozy, familiar and safe, and I quietly make my way into your space to ensure all is well. After a few routine checks with your permission, I will remain as present as you want me to be until it’s time for your baby to be born. Whether you catch your own baby with little to no help or use the many tools I bring with me, I will be there to establish safety and normalcy so you can enjoy the sacred act of birthing and bonding with your baby.

As a Licensed Midwife, I carry with me the same standard safety equipment you would expect to see in a birth center or hospital. This includes oxygen and resuscitation equipment for mom and baby, anti-hemorrhagic herbs and medications, IV fluids, and more. I also invite only highly skilled birth assistants to be my extra set of hands in case of any birth emergencies. Although most home births which follow a normal, healthy pregnancy are low-intervention, I find comfort in having all of the same standard equipment and training at every birth, to be prepared for any situation.

In addition to some western medical tools, I offer herbal and homeopathic remedies for mild aches & pains during the birthing process. In most cases, beginning with the least invasive or least side-effect inducing treatment first can solve a problem without creating more. Often, the greatest tools I can present to you are my hands and my knowledge. We can work through position changes, find ways to make you comfortable, and consistently check in to ensure both mom and baby are safe. However, regardless of how many great tools and options I can present, I deeply trust the body’s instinctive birthing process and would prefer to let your story unfold in its own time and space as long as it is safe to do so. I am honored to be present to hold a space of safety and normalcy, so you can birth your way.

Postpartum Care

Immediately after birth, I will monitor and support your baby’s transition to breathing on their own and operating their body for the first time on the outside. Once you’ve enjoyed a couple hours of bonding time, we will complete a newborn exam at your side so you can see and touch your baby while they’re examined from head to tiny toes, weighed & measured. After tucking you into bed for a well-earned nap, I return around 24-48 hours later to check on you and your baby, as well as at 1 week, 2-3 weeks, 4-5 weeks, and 6-8 weeks postpartum depending on your individual needs. All postpartum visits are done in your home, so you can maintain your routine of rest and recovery after birth. We spend about 60-90 minutes checking mom’s & baby’s health, baby’s growth, breastfeeding, and any other questions or concerns.

If you birthed in the hospital but would prefer in-home postpartum care, I am available for postpartum visits once you’ve been discharged! Every family can benefit from the care of a midwife, no matter where they birth.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Many families choose to use intrauterine insemination to achieve a pregnancy for various reasons. Midwives can provide IUI services, even in the comfort of your own home! Please reach out to schedule a free consultation to determine whether IUI support is right for your family. Families are made in many beautiful ways, and I provide a safe space for folks of any background or identity to explore family building outside of the hospital system.

Preconception Counseling

For some families, preparing for a pregnancy can seem mysterious and intimidating. Preconception counseling, including lab work and a wellness exam, can help to shed light on any potential hurdles to conceiving, as well as indicate where positive change can be made to better support a growing baby. Appointments are now available weekly for counseling & advice, lab work, Pap testing, and more!

Reproductive Wellness Care

Did you know midwives can provide the same standard wellness care as an OB/Gyn? Wellness services include pelvic exams, Pap & HPV screening, STI testing, family planning, hormone testing, and more. Schedule your next wellness exam with a midwife and enjoy a more comfortable, respectful approach to reproductive care. Call to find out what’s covered by your insurance!

Placenta Encapsulation

Although there is little scientific research about placenta consumption, it has been practiced in many cultures for as long as we can look back through history. Most people who consume their placentas report feeling more energized, a more balanced mood, and fewer instances of severe postpartum depression or anxiety. My placenta encapsulation kit includes placenta pills (amount depends on the size of your placenta), a placenta tincture, an artistic stamped outline of the placenta, and a dried umbilical cord keepsake. If you are interested in encapsulation with me and are not birthing with me, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss pickup & drop-off details for your placenta BEFORE giving birth.
